BIOGRAPHY
L.A. Mars is a nonbinary director, producer, and stage manager. They specialize in new work and theatre as political activism. Theatrical production, video production, and non-profit leadership experience detailed below.
Mars recently completed The Barrow Group’s One-Year Directing program. They earned their Bachelor of Science in Media Production from Drexel University’s Custom-Designed Major program.
They are a member of A.R.T./New York, The Drama League, and the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society (SDC). Mars is also a co-founder of Wolfsmouth Players Company and currently serves as Co-Artistic Director. They currently act as Company Manager for Carolyn Dorfman Dance.

THEATRE PRODUCTION
Mars' theatrical work includes non-union contracted work, independent productions, and community projects. They have worked closely with Theater for the New City and the Nutley Little Theatre. Currently, they are studying under Seth Barrish and Lee Brock in The Barrow Group's 2022-23 Directors Program.
Credits include: Tick, Tick... BOOM! (Nutley Little Theatre), Effigy: Staged Reading (The Drama League), the recruit (The Barrow Group) Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde (Nutley Little Theatre), Effigy (FringeArts' Philadelphia Fringe Festival), Perfect Arrangement (Nutley Little Theatre), A Very Great Mischief (NZ Fringe Festival), Black Sheep (Theater for the New City), And She Was There (Shetler Studios).
Upcoming projects will include The Valley of the Shadow at WP Theater and The Pillowman at Nutley Little Theatre. Mars is signed to additional productions through June 2024, details to come.
NON-PROFIT LEADERSHIP
Mars currently serves as Co-Artistic Director of Wolfsmouth Players Company alongside longtime creative partner Laura Anthony. Within this position, they have expanded ensemble membership, commissioned new work, and grown company recognition across multiple theatre markets.
They also serve as Company Manager for Carolyn Dorfman Dance, a non-profit dance company based in Union, NJ. CDD honors Jewish legacy, its trials and triumphs, treasured uniqueness and precious commonalities across cultures and the globe. Through powerfully expressive contemporary dance, CDD moves audiences to build understanding and face barriers together.
Mars has also worked with Nutley Little Theatre since 2018. They are a sitting Committee Chair for Readers' Theatre and the Nominating Committee. Previous work includes all digital media produced for NLT during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, which was integral in keeping the theatre afloat. Their current mission within Readers' Theatre is to serve communities historically underrepresented by NLT.
VIDEO PRODUCTION
Mars' film work encompasses directing, producing, design, and editing. Mars has created both narrative and commercial content alongside the independent artists of Dream Machine Creative, Northstar Productions, Tioga, and more.
Their editorial content spans Meredith and Conde Nast brands, including Time, Sports Illustrated, Entertainment Weekly, and Vogue.
